I moved to the United States of America in 1994 with my daughter. The country I am from, Liberia, was enduring a civil war. We sought refuge in the states. Originally I had dreams of being a super model. My father always told me I would be the next Iman. Instead, I attended business school but later I dropped out to pursue a career in cosmetology. I started braiding hair at seven years old. I would braid my auntie’s hair, my neighbor, and my little sister Francis. I remember days when my neighbor would give me 50 cents or a dollar for my cosmetology services. And she would pray for me to move to America and be successful doing hair.
With a cosmetology license in the states I was able to make my own work schedule to spend time with my daughter. Doing hair allowed me to do this while also doing something I was talented at but also provide for my daughter and me. After working a couple of years in the cosmetology industry and owning my very own salon, I become frustrated with the hair products available. I felt that these products promised, but did not deliver. They are filled with harmful chemicals that have bad long-term effects on hair. I also had numerous clients wanting to go all natural. So in 2011 I began to make my own products based off my diet using simple and pure ingredients. SAYBLEE is an all-natural, organic ingredient based product that penetrates the hair follicle to repair damaged hair, promote hair growth, and even treats clients suffering from alopecia. Not only do we strive to bring damaged hair back to life through nourishment and care, but we also desire to educate people about maintaining healthy hair
